Enterprise operations software is built for the shape of a chain: central IT, standardized properties, a budget for the gaps. Independent and boutique hotels are the opposite: lean teams, buildings with character (and bad wifi), and processes shaped by the property rather than a corporate template. Software built for the first world rarely survives contact with the second.
So we started from how a shift actually runs and built toward the software, not the other way around. That shows up in the decisions that are hard to reverse later: a real operational vocabulary instead of a blank form, escalation logic that assumes people are busy and things get missed, and a permanent record of what was done, where a skipped job keeps its reason instead of quietly disappearing.
The product starts from decades on hotel floors, not from a whiteboard. The domain came first; the code serves it.
